management
- Yuval Koren: CEO
Yuval brings more than a decade of system design and leadership experience to his current role, having delivered successful products into the high-performance computing and carrier-class networking markets. Prior to co-founding Eye-Fi, he was a technical leader within the carrier-class routing group at Cisco Systems. Yuval joined Cisco as part of its acquisition of Growth Networks, where his focus was on the line card interface for Growth’s terabit scale, multiservice switch fabric.
Previously, Yuval was involved in the development of two generations of scaleable server systems at Silicon Graphics. He was the lead verification engineer for the Origin routing fabric and the SPIDER routing ASIC upon which it was based.
Yuval received a bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering and computer science from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, and a master’s in electrical engineering from Stanford University, where he was a Stanford Graduate Fellow. He holds several patents in computer system architecture. - Ziv Gillat: Vice President, Business Development
Ziv has worked in software design and support for more than 10 years, with experience in digital imaging, color management, printing technologies, storage and high-speed networking. He is also a professional photographer and shoots on-location and in the studio.
Before co-founding Eye-Fi, Ziv was the applications engineering manager at Silverback Systems (acquired by Brocade), where he managed all aspects of the systems support organization and helped secure several tier-1 and tier-2 design wins. Prior to Silverback, he worked on networking and storage technologies at iReady Corp. (acquired by nVidia) and at Zaffire, where as a senior NMS software engineer he helped to define and implement the company’s metro optical DWDM NMS management platforms.
Ziv’s imaging background extends to an earlier stint at PhotoAccess (acquired by Agilent and Seattle PhotoWorks), where he was part of a team creating a digital imaging ASIC integrated into several U.S. and Japanese digital cameras. He also designed and implemented a WinCE application that uploaded images from cameras directly to an online printing portal.
Prior to PhotoAccess, Ziv worked at numerous consumer-oriented companies including Visible Interactive, General Magic and Apple. He has a bachelor’s degree in computer science from the University of Massachusetts at Amherst. - Eugene Feinberg: Hardware Architect
Eugene’s broad experience in systems design spans complex physical design for ASICs to operating system porting and genetic programming. Prior to co-founding Eye-Fi, he was at Silicon Graphics where he was involved with the development of the Origin 3000 scalable supercomputer system, and he created a multicontextual cache-coherent processor model that enabled efficient simulation of multiprocessor configuration.
After Silicon Graphics, Eugene was involved with the development of Growth Networks’ scalable switch fabric. In addition to verifying parts of the switching fabric chips, he helped develop the FPGA test fixtures for their lab bring-up.
In 2000 Cisco Systems acquired Growth Networks, and Eugene participated in the development of Cisco’s flagship Internet routing product – the terabit scale CRS-1 router. He designed the 120 Gb/s packet buffer memory interfaces for use on all of the major line card ASICs, and he was a key contributor to the physical design effort on two of these ASICs, creating unique tools to transform large netlists. He was also part of a two-person effort to create a novel Linux-based post-silicon verification environment for the router, creating a complete development and test environment for the router line card and route processors.
After the CRS-1 project, Eugene was a lead design engineer on Cisco’s forthcoming packet processor and scheduler chipset. In addition to design responsibility for a major portion of a large 90nm chip, he helped develop a unique SQL-based genetic tester to explore the large configuration space of the packet scheduling chip.
After leaving Cisco, Eugene offered independent consulting services to ATI and Atheros Communications. For ATI he developed a distributed simulation environment for enormous gate-level simulations. For Atheros he was responsible for the creation of a network processor controller consisting of the integration of a variety of third-party IP components and the original design of a high-performance DDR memory controller.
Eugene holds a bachelor’s degree in electrical and computer engineering from Carnegie Mellon University. - Berend Ozceri: Systems Architect
Berend has eight years of experience in cutting-edge ASIC design and software/hardware co-development for systems ranging from complex scalable supercomputers to embedded system-on-a-chip (SoC) devices. Prior to co-founding Eye-Fi, he was a senior digital design engineer at Atheros Communication where he worked as one of two lead SoC architects of a highly integrated, very low-power 802.11 MAC and radio chip. In addition to working closely with the software team developing hardened ASIC-resident ROM driver code for the chip, he co-developed a novel dynamic clock-gating scheme to aid the chip in meeting its aggressive low-power consumption goals.
After joining Cisco Systems through the acquisition of Growth Networks, Berend worked on the design and verification of the central CPU-subsystem interface chip used on the route processors and line cards of the CRS-1 core router. Initially implemented in a high-performance FPGA, then converted into an ASIC, the chip featured more than a dozen custom multigigabit point-to-point links, a PCI-X interface, and high-speed DMA engines. He was also instrumental in porting Linux to the CRS-1 while it was under development to enable hardware engineers to complete the post-silicon hardware verification and check-out of ASICs before the platform operating system was available.
At Silicon Graphics, Berend contributed to the design verification of a coherent distributed shared memory controller ASIC, central to the Origin 3000 supercomputer product family. He also led the hardware team in the lab bring-up of the overall product, from the power-on of individual ASICs to the demonstration of many-processor systems, often times working closely with the operating system software group and writing low-level firmware code specific to the memory controller ASIC.
Berend holds bachelor’s and master’s degrees in electrical and computer engineering from Carnegie Mellon University. - Steve Sutter: CFO
Steve joined Eye-Fi in October of 2008 and brings 18 years of proven financial management experience at both strategic and tactical levels.
Most recently, Steve was the CFO of Identity Engines, a networking security company and was a key contributor to its successful sale to Nortel Networks. Prior to that Steve served as CFO of Elance, an online services marketplace, where he helped execute its business model redesign and structured the sale of the company’s enterprise software division to Click Commerce.
Prior to Elance, Steve was acting CFO of Netfish Technologies and responsible for the successful positioning, negotiation and execution of the sale of the company to Iona Technologies for $270 million. He also served as Corporate Controller at inSilicon and was a key contributor to the company’s successful IPO. Steve has also held financial management positions at Valdero Corporation, Adaptec and KPMG. He holds a BS Accounting, from California Polytechnic State University and is a Certified Public Accountant. - Mark Schuster: Vice President of Sales
Mark Schuster is Eye-Fi’s Vice President of Sales. He joined Eye-Fi in November 2009 and brings 20 years of proven sales management experience at both strategic and tactical levels.
Most recently, Mark was the VP of Sales at Pure Digital Technologies, part of the Flip Video group. Prior to that Mark served as Senior Director of Sales and Marketing at Kensington Computer Products Group, a Division of ACCO Brands.
